I attended Electronics and Communication Department in 2008 and I graduated from B. Sc. in 2012. In 2012, I began M. Sc. program of our department and got my degree in 2014. Now I am pursuing a PhD degree at Computer Science and Engineering department of Michigan State University. I am also working as a research assistant in Pattern Recognition and Image Processing Lab of the same department.
First of all, I can say that I spent most beautiful 6 years of my life in Istanbul Technical University. I made excellent friends and enjoyed the campus life during my undergraduate years. Besides, I believe that I have gained a very good background about my area of interest and engineering by taking undergraduate and graduate level courses of our department. Our department is one of the best departments in ITU. Its academic staff consists of precious scholars who are professionals in their areas. In our laboratories, students can find opportunities to engage in academic research and scientific studies. I think that any student of our department who is willing to be an academician or to work in industry will have the knowledge and the engineering notion that he/she might need in the future.
I had desired to attend this university and this department and I have never regretted this decision. Therefore, I would like to congratulate the students who have already attended and who are planning to attend and I wish you all very productive and enjoyable years in Electronics and Communication Department and in ITU.

I received my BSc and MSc degrees from ITU Electronics and Communication Engineering Department in 2006 and 2008, respectively. Between 2006 and 2008, I also served as a teaching and research assistant.
Being an ITU alumnus has been always a great honor. I had the opportunity to take lectures from brilliant faculty members and conducted research under the supervision of two of the best ones. Therefore, just like other ITU members, I always feel privileged and quite lucky. With its constantly growing infrastructure, world-renowned faculty members and around 90 years-old-history, ITU Electronics and Communication Engineering Department is nation's leading institution of its kind. The department provides an exceptional theoretical education and supports practical experience which significantly helps at every stage of your career, arming you with a unique set of skills.
The education and professional training at ITU Electronics and Communication Engineering Department provides you a competitive advantage internationally. You gain a great set of critical and analytical thinking skills, a deep knowledge of both modern and fundamental engineering topics as well as powerful and creative engineering insights which will put you well ahead of your peers anywhere in the world.
I want to congratulate students who already joined the family. I am sure they will enjoy their time at ITU. On the other hand, without any doubt, I strongly recommend prospective students to join ITU Electronics and Communication Engineering Department. It is an exceptional privilege to be an ITU member.

I received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in telecommunications engineering from the Electronic and Communication Engineering (ECE) Department at Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Istanbul, Turkey, in 2008 and 2010, respectively. Currently, I am working towards my Ph.D. degree and as a research assistant in the Institute for High-Frequency Engineering at Technical University of Munich, Munich, Germany.
Besides the engineering education at ITU, I had the opportunity to involve some academic studies under the guidance of some precious members of ECE Department. I spent a productive and cheerful six years at ITU and am glad of being an alumnus of ITU.
ITU provides a strong background of basic natural sciences and a broad engineering vision and experience for its engineering students in any discipline. Also, I can easily express that ECE Department with its precious academic staff and well-qualified infrastructure and laboratories offers an engineering education equipping its students with a strong theoretical background and practical experience.
In this sense, I would warmly recommend prospective students who are interested in electronics and communication and wish to work in academia or industry to choose the Electronic and Communication Engineering Department of Istanbul Technical University (ITU).

Selda Yildiz holds a BSc (2006) and MSc (2008) from Telecommunication Engineering at the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in Istanbul Technical University. She worked with Prof. İbrahim Akduman and Prof. Ali Yapar within Electromagnetics Lab. during her MSc studies while she was also a research assistant. It was such a privilege to work with such professional faculty members; she felt lucky and always valued working with such enthusiastic and encouraging professors. She believes she made a right choice by picking ITU, and especially Electronics and Communication Engineering where she acquired knowledge and experience in data analysis, signal processing, wave propagation, etc. As well as the cores of being an engineer via both experimental and theoretical classes/trainings.
I recommend the program anyone who'd like to start their undergraduate education in Electronics and Communication Engineering; with excellent faculty, it is a great place to study and work.
Selda Yildiz is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at Georgia Institute of Technology. Prior to this position, Dr. Yildiz was a Postdoctoral Researcher working on ambient noise at Marine Psychical Laboratory (MPL) at the renowned Scripps Institution of Oceanography(SIO) at UC San Diego. She holds a PhD from SIO - UC San Diego where she acquired knowledge and experience in physics based data analysis and signal processing through wave propagation, underwater acoustics, seismoacoustic signals and ambient noise.

Hello everyone, This is Harun; I’ve graduated from Telecommunication Engineering Department (or Electronics and Communication Department with its current official name) in 2011 as a person who adores his profession, gained useful experiences over the past years and had very good friends.
I’ve had the chance to participate in various projects during my undergraduate education. Electronics and Communication Department is one of the departments in ITU in which you may have the chance of joining many of the projects that you can improve yourself with. That’s why I think I’m very lucky, as well as my friends who will attend to this department. After the 4 years I’ve spent with our fellow academicians who always helped me for resolving every single problem we’ve encountered and my dearest friends from the same department, I can clearly see that I’ve made the perfect choice. Apart from these, the best habit I’ve gained and the most important experience I’ve obtained over the past 4 years is to apply engineering approach to everything in life and to be able to find the ways of reaching information rather than getting the information which is already ready and served to me. This is a priceless gain for me. And of course, as you may know, this is not possible with just having the chance to attend this valuable department. You have to do your best :)
I’ve enjoyed the benefits of these experiences when I’ve started business life after this 4 years of adventure. Although I’m not doing a job which is directly related with my profession, I can easily learn new things and improve myself in the field of my current job, thanks to this skill of reaching information I’ve mentioned earlier.
I can easily say to my future colleagues that: “Don’t have any concerns regarding your future, I believe that you will receive a recompense for your work if you do your best”.
